The Alcatel Award for the European Month of Photography

The European Month of Photography includes seven photography festivals (in Paris, Berlin, Bratislava, Luxembourg, Moscow, Rome and Vienna). Alcatel, the festival's leading sponsor, has created the Alcatel Award for the European Month of Photography, to be presented at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie.
The goal of this award, to be given every two years, is to focus attention on the work of outstanding contemporary European photographers. A jury of experts from the European art scene will choose a winner from the nominees-one from each country-selected by the seven festival curators. The winner will receive a cash prize of 10,000 Euros.
The exhibition entitled "Mutations 1" brings together photographs by the seven nominees, with emphasis on the winner of the award. Presented in each of the seven participating cities in autumn 2006 and spring 2007, the exhibition can be seen at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris from November 2 to December 31, 2006.
