Une traversée photographique du XXe siècle
A photographic journey through the 20th century

21 October 2008 - 20 December 2008

What is the documentary value of a photographic image? How does it relate to reality? Is it objective? Can it be used to write history? To what extent is it an indispensable research tool? To try and answer these questions, the curators of this exhibition have put together an overview of 20th century photography, drawing from the collections of the Musée d'histoire contemporaine (Museum of Contemporary History). As well as mostly anonymous images from the historic collections, the exhibition includes a corpus of photographs by artist-photographers who look at current affairs in a different way and challenge concepts of reality and objectivity.
