Photography and Architecture, the Documentary Alibi

14 November 2008 - 1 February 2009

This exhibition focuses on the codes of architectural imagery and how they are interpreted in French-speaking Belgium. It brings together interrelating aspects of architecture and photography and reveals the porosity of the frontier that separates the two. More than just a way of documenting the built environment, the theme reveals how photography and architecture can share ideas, tools, and even internal objectives. Architects produce images, and photographers address the question of architecture. There is much to explore here in order to identify the attitudes that emerge and the protocols at work: those that embrace the changes wrought by the passage of time, and those that resist them.
