Tobacco Factories

31 October 2008 - 23 November 2008

This exhibition presents colour photographs of old tobacco factories in the Greek towns of Agrinio, Volos, Kavala, Drama and Xanthi. At the turn of the 20th century the appearance of these towns was transformed by industrialization. Today, most of their industrial buildings are disused and forgotten. Kamilo Nollas photographed them over a period of four years, producing a testimony designed to enhance collective awareness and to serve as a memorial. Using natural light, he takes us into a "no man's land" redolent with mysterious poetry.
