Gilles Raynaldy, Domiciles
Homes
4 - 28 November 2008Homes
In the project entitled Domiciles, Gilles Raynaldy uses the same documentary approach as in his previous series, but this time to answer a new question: what is behind the doors, windows and gates we walk past every day? What do those homes look like inside? At the outset he decided to photograph the homes of people he knew. This common thread grew longer every day and led him to explore not only Paris and the rest of France, but also Europe and North Africa. These images record the conscious and unconscious traces left by individuals and families who live in their homes like a tribe inhabits a territory. Objects, paintings, the colours of the walls and the way the space is arranged form what can be seen as portraits.
