Ilse Frech, Identités pluri-Elles

14 November 2008 - 21 December 2008

Ilse Frech focuses on the destiny of young Muslim women living in the Paris suburbs, an area all too often labelled a hotbed of social marginalization despite most of the women's desire for integration. Frech follows them as they go about their daily lives, establishing a dialogue and describing an existence shared between two cultures: on the one hand a family context that is Muslim and religious, and on the other hand aspirations that draw them towards a liberated femininity whose external signs are often viewed with disapproval by their families.
