Stephan Zaubitzer photographs popular cinemas all over the world ; for him, it is urgent to record this reality that is gradually disappearing. He is particularly interested in the diversity of these places, with different architectural styles or even absence of architecture in the case of open-air cinemas. Zaubitzer endeavours to record places where, because of dilapidation and possible dereliction, a collective cultural experience is in the process of disappearing. He does this with an unerringly creative eye, carefully framing simple or elaborate architectural features and tightly composing his images.
