From July 2006 to July 2007, Paris Petridis went to Istanbul to photograph "Romaic schools". the last remaining institutions where Greek is taught in the territory of former Constantinople. They form part not only of history, but also of the reality of modern Turkey.
Petridis' decision not to refer to historical protagonists or to the topical reality of the schools, instead focusing on the physical areas where education and the development of free thought take place, takes his work beyond documentary. Many of the images could belong to the past or be situated somewhere between reality and fiction.
