"The art scene: I know the Berlin art scene pretty well but I have few connections there. Zurich is different, I've had many exhibitions and I know a lot of artists who live there, like Fichli and Weiss. I have a name in Zurich, people call me when I'm working on an exhibition project or a book. But I'm free, I don't feel as if I belong to any particular scene. Friendship: I primarily go to Berlin to work and I don't stay long. I've built up a large number of professional contacts there. I find it's quite hard to make friends in Berlin. I've been going once or twice a year since 1988. In Zurich I spend most of my time with my models who have become firm friends. I've seen some of them grow up, get married and have children. Atmosphere: Berlin is really a large city, raw and beautiful. I love walking around and watching the people. The parks are really nice during the day. Zurich is a real village, I feel comfortable there, it's my town." Walter Pfeiffer
