Jürgen Nefzger, Panta Rhei
7 November - 20 December 2008In the series entitled Panta Rhei Jürgen Nefzger addresses the issue of global warming. Glacial melt is one of the visible phenomena inflicted on the environment by Man. Here Nefzger uses it as a symbol of climate change, which is less directly perceptible. The mountain landscapes of the Alps (in France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Italy) are represented via the movements of their glaciers. In Panta Rhei a unity emerges, since the Alps are a natural treasure linking five European countries. But they also represent a shared anxiety: that of the disappearance of part of our geographical and symbolic heritage.
