John Goto's photography makes expert use of digital technology to fabricate illusions and reinterpret certain mirages of History. It involves human figures in digitally recomposed settings, playing on anachronism and distanciation and taking up an ironic stance with respect to History and current events. Goto's photographs refer to the history of painting, which has deeply influenced our collective consciousness since the Renaissance.
