Special visits for nursery and elementary school children will begin again in September 2008. Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays at 10 am. Prior booking essential. It is possible to organize a preliminary session with individual teachers, enabling them to get to know the museum and the artist's work and to familiarize themselves with the goals and details of the visit. During the course of the visit, using different materials and games, essential notions of photography are talked about in relation to the exhibition: framing, composition, black & white, instantaneity, the photographer's point of view, and so on… Each child is given a booklet to fill in, enabling him or her to get involved, to relate to the photographs, to keep a record of the visit and to share the experience with others. "Les coulisses de la MEP/Behind the Scenes at the MEP" offers a more historical approach to the building itself and presents the resources of the MEP. Events organized by the Culture Service of the MEP will begin again in September 2008. The idea is to create a workshop on images and art via a dialogue between the philosopher François Soulages and a personality from the field of images and/or art. Under discussion will be both material images -poetic, pictorial, photographic, cinematographic, digital - and immaterial images - psychic, mental, fantasmatic, ideological and so on. The objective is to gain a better understanding of the art that is related to these images and to ask the question why humans need and/or want images and art in order to relate to others and to themselves. Artists and researchers are invited to speak about their work and to engage in discussion with key movers from cultural institutions, festivals and publishing. This year the SFP is joined by the ARIP (Association de Recherche sur l'Image Photographique). Events organized by the Société Française de Photographie will begin again in September 2008. Information and reservations : Société Française de Photographie 01 42 60 04 57   Events organized by 'Gens d'Images' http://www.photographie.com/gensdimages/ One Thursday each month from 6.30 pm to 8 pm, the MEP hosts lectures by the Gens d¹images. association. Fouded in 1955, it brings together people who are privately or professionally involved in images, whether fixed or moving, mental or virtual. Gens d'images awards the Niépce Prize, the first professional photography award in France, the Nadar Prize for the best photography book and the Arcimboldo Prize for digital art.
