Events organized by the cultural service of the Mep

The MEP cultural service offers a variety of events linked to the current exhibitions, including public interviews, discussions and debates.
"Les coulisses de la MEP/Behind the Scenes at the MEP" offers a more historical approach to the building itself and presents the resources of the MEP.
The auditorium is temporarily closed for safety reasons. The events programme will begin again in September 2010, to coincide with the next season's exhibitions.
Admission free with MEP entrance ticket (advance booking essential).

"Les coulisses de la Mep" (Behind the Scenes at the MEP)
Wendesday 19 May at 2.30 pm
This visit takes place on three Wednesdays each year. It offers an overviow of the MEP in three stages :
- History of the building. The Hôtel Hénault de Cantobre was built in 1706 and bears the name of its first owner, chief tax collector René Jean Rémy Hénault de Cantobre. The streetside facades, the ironwork and the main staircase are representative of neo-classical architecture and are listed features. The building has belonged to the City of Paris since 1914. For the MEP project, the conversion and extension of the building were carried out by the Yves Lion architecture bureau.
- The library. The Roméo Martinez library and video facility are designed for the consultation of works on photography as an art form. Its specialization and its size (24,000 books, 1,400 periodiicals, 800 films), make it the only reference facility of its kind in the world. It offers researchers and photo-lovers an invaluable resource relating to international publishing and audiovisual pieces devoted to photographers the world over.
- The Restoration and Conservation Workshops (ARCP). Situated in the same building as the MEP, the ARCP is the leading specialist photographic restoration service in France. Its main function is to implement a policy of municipal heritage conservation by carrying out expert assessments and following them up with conservation and restoration work.
