@rt Outsiders is an annual festival devoted to the relationship between contemporary art and new technology. This year the theme is electromagnetic bodies.

The project was initiated and developed by Nina Czegledy and Louise Provencher, and jointly curated by Jean-Luc Soret for this Paris edition. Its main aim is to take the human body as a source, an echo, a transmitter or a point of resistance to electromagnetic waves.
Previously presented in Montreal, Karlsruhe, Madrid, Rotterdam and Budapest, Corps électromagnétiques was designed from the outset as a platform for new interpretations of its chosen themes. It is also an opportunity for guest artists to pay tribute to the pioneering work of Nikola Tesla. Though a key figure for scientists all over the world, Tesla (1856-1943) is hardly known to the general public. A visionary inventor, he contributed to the emergence of the industrial age via his many innovations, including the large-scale transmission and distribution of electricity, the development of wireless communication, and the emergence of robotics. Electromagnetism remains an enigma even though its effects are more and more visible in our daily lives. Like scientists, these artists adopt strategies in order to understand a phenomenon that has repercussions at both individual and collective level, presenting installations using both vision and sound.
