Barbara and Michael Leisgen
"Of worn Beauty"
Barbara and Michael Leisgen, both painters, decided at the end of the 1960s to live and work together, and chose a medium which would allow them to create together: photography.
Between the 1970s and the 1990s, their work went from a questioning of classical photography (perspective and truth, falsehood of the photographic landscape) to the Writings of the Sun, fascinating heliographs produced by this star.
Fixed in time by the lens, the movements of the sun become ideograms and images of myths, thus forming a personal cosmogony of the two artists. After 'Tauromachy' (1992), Barbara and Michael Leisgen intensify their work on the sun as a creator and destroyer. This aspect is reflected in their cycle 'Apocalypse'. This retrospective exhibit is the first to be organised in France.
