"20 Years (1976-1996)"

The Maison Européenne de la Photographie is organising the first retrospective of Pierre & Gilles in France. The exhibition presents an itinerary through the ideal and imaginary world of this duo of artists.

Since 1976, date of their meeting, they work together on magazines, record cover designs, posters...

Popular culture, travels and friends are the source of their inspiration and become the subjects of their works which they build around the themes: "les paradis" (paradises), "les pleureuses et les naufragés" (the mourners and the shipwrecked), "les saints et les saintes" (saints), "les jolis voyous" (beautiful thugs), and "les plaisirs de la Forêt" (pleasures of the forest)...
