Collections

The MEP collections span the history of international photography from the 1950s to the present. With 24,000 photographic works, 110 artists' videos, 800 documentary and experimental films and 36,000 books and periodicals, together they reflect the full range of artistic approaches to the photographic medium, from reportage and fashion work to contemporary practices.

Photographs

Bringing together prints by leading photographers from the second half of the twentieth century and the work of prominent figures on the contemporary scene. our photo collection is presented both in temporary exhibitions and displays at the MEP and in off-site projects.

Videos & films

The MEP’s film and video collection includes works by international artists from the early 1990s onward, as well as documentary and experimental films on photography and its key figures. The artists’ videos are shown in exhibitions; and the films can be viewed free of charge in the MEP’s library.

Books & documents

The largest collection of photography-related books and periodicals in Europe, the MEP library contains reference works from all over the world – some of them extremely rare – that can be consulted on site.
