Photographer, writer, sculptor and draughtsman, Brassaï is celebrated for his black-and-white photographs of the French capital in the 1930s. Nicknamed "the eye of Paris", he revealed in his groundbreaking book Paris de nuit a vision of the capital that had never before been seen, inspired by his nocturnal walks around the city and by the graffiti carved onto its buildings. The MEP collection includes a rare ensemble of these photographs, including a series in colour.
