Artist talk & Book signing with Diana Markosian, in discussion with Lou Stoppard

Artist talk & Book signing with Diana Markosian, in discussion with Lou Stoppard

On the occasion of Paris Photo, the MEP presents a special programme celebrating photography, featuring a conversation between artist Diana Markosian and Lou Stoppard, independent curator.

The talk will be held in English and subsequently translated into French

Registration required via the online ticketing system – Événements (Events)” section.

The ticket for the event also provides access to the exhibitions.

This discussion will be an opportunity to explore the work of Diana Markosian, her artistic journey, and her recent projects — in particular her latest monograph, Father (Atelier EXB, 2024). In this book, the photographer offers an intimate and moving narrative of distance, absence, and reconciliation, retracing her relationship with her father, who disappeared from her life when she was only seven years old and whom she found again nearly twenty years later in Armenia. Through a composition of documentary photographs, family snapshots, texts, and archival materials, Father explores universal themes of fatherhood, separation, emptiness, and reunion, transforming her personal story into a broader reflection on memory, identity, and family bonds.

Presented this year at the Rencontres d’Arles, Father was awarded the Prix de la Photo Madame Figaro Arles 2025, recognizing the sensitivity and unique vision of Diana Markosian’s work. The conversation will also offer a chance to reflect on her distinctive practice, which combines documentary photography with a conceptual approach, as well as to revisit her earlier work, including Santa Barbara.

The talk will be followed by a book signing session at the MEP Bookshop from 7 p.m.
