Playing Outside
From June 4 to September 28, 2025, Jouer Dehors moves to the MEP's Petite Galerie. Designed for young audiences and families, this exhibition offers a sensitive introduction to photography through a selection of works from the MEP's collections.
The exhibition
Presented from June 4 to September 28, 2025, Jouer Dehors invites you to explore the magic of childhood through the eyes of fifteen photographers, united around a single subject: children’s outdoor games.
For adults, observing children at play outside means seeing a world in constant invention. Running, jumping, climbing, inventing stories: every gesture becomes a game, every place an exploration ground.
Photographers have captured these moments when everything seems possible. These images tell of childhoods past and present, but also of a strong bond with nature, the street, the seasons, but above all with others.
The use of black and white for all these photos brings out the light, contrasts, materials and expressions. These photographs are full of movement, laughter, silence, emotion… and freedom. They invite you to look differently, to slow down for a better view. And to imagine the conversations, stories and lives of these children beyond the image.
Like a sensitive stroll through playful territory, this exhibition invites young and old alike to rediscover the power of childhood, its freedom, inventiveness and spontaneity.
