Dibbets – Jan Dibbets 1966-1976 : Toward another photography

In 1966, Jan Dibbets had not yet developed a distinct artistic oeuvre. However, three chance encounters pointed him toward his path. His first exhibitions in Amsterdam revealed an abstraction that would eventually evolve into a groundbreaking photographic practice. Dibbets became a mediator, connecting artists, curators, and institutions across Europe and the United States. From ephemeral installations to photographic investigations of perspective, light, and time, he pushed the boundaries of perception.
