A Contemporary Adventure, Photography 1955-1995

This exhibition, based on the collections of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, is intended to reflect the historical development of contemporary photography from 1955 to the present day.

"A Contemporary Adventure" is also designed to represent the diversity and richness of the different photography styles of the latter half of this century, which is why it includes both artists on the frontiers of photography and the plastic arts and those who claim to be merely photographers.

From William Klein to Robert Frank, by way of Irving Penn, Helmut Newton and Pierre Molinier, right up to recent work by Alain Fleischer and Charles Matton, this retrospective is more than a history of the art of photography; it is a journey into the heart of the history of forms and uses of the medium.
